Design Brokering

Design brokering

Good design is fundamental to the success of any built environment project.  It can add value to your organisation without significantly increasing construction costs.  Yet the multi-headed nature of many project teams can sometimes lead to confusion & conflict. Short term thinking, differing agendas and misunderstandings between team members can water down the original aspirations of a project and ultimately lower its design quality

Local Authority, developer & public sector projects:

Design brokering is an independent & objective way of effectively communicating the design aspirations of a project to all parties. We use our skills as architects & urbanists to encourage a positive two way dialogue between project team members. Our work ensures a continuity of thinking throughout the project’s life to maximise the value good design can add.

Community projects & neighbourhood planning:

We also help support discussions between community groups, planners, architects & other built environment professionals. This encourages effective & positive two-way dialogue between skilled communities & professionals which enriches the process of regeneration. By strengthening local economies, creating pride in place and encouraging a sense of ownership we provide communities a direct opportunity to shape & improve their neighbourhood.

Supporting design review:

We facilitate  the opportunity for balanced & objective design reviews to aid design brokering. By informally assessing the design evolution of a project we facilitate a meaningful & positive discussion between team members. Our post-design review enabling can also be used to encourage multi-headed teams in maximising the value of good design.

We help a range of organisations across Yorkshire & the Humber with their built environment projects. Including those applying for Arts Council funding & developing  neighbourhood plans. Please contact us on 0114 2752620 or info@integreatplus.com to discuss how we could help your charity, community organisation or local authority with a construction project.

Design brokering can complement our other design enabling, design review & competition management services.

“You have made a major contribution to delivering design excellence and have given people the confidence and tools to challenge poor design. I thoroughlyenjoyed working with your team on projects whilst at City of York Council. Your passion and enthusiasm for what you do really shone through and your advice and thinking on key issues was crucial in delivering key work.”
